What I want to see done #GE2015

I’m basically hacked off with the whole election thing.

The Conservatives and Labour are basically pushing themselves to ideological boundaries to shore up their support, and they are both screwing it up.

We have moved on from 2 party politics, but only to 2.5 party politics. Which is in my view a good thing. Instead of 90% of people voting CON/LAB we have 65% of people voting CON/LAB. That means the likelihood of a total mandate from the people is pretty low for either, but the likelihood of majority control is high when they collaborate with smaller parties. Fine. That appears to be what we want as an electorate.

But what I want is quite simple.

I want those without in our society (and wider world) to be looked after and helped to come back into or join our society. In other words, look after people when things go wrong and encourage them to get a job/start a business/whatever without forcing them through removal (or total lack) of support.

I want businesses to be able to give someone a job, without being taxed for doing so by removing NI (at least employers). Should be simple enough to rebalance Income Tax to not penalise the employee at all, and remove the tax burden of employers NI, which is a tax on employing people, which is STUPID. It would also make business bookkeeping significantly more straight forward which would encourage people to start businesses even more.

Finally I want to be able to know that my data is private. It’s my data not anybody else’s data (that is including the government). I also want to know I’m not being snooped on without cause. I’m pretty sure if you look at most people hard enough, they’re probably doing something illegal somewhere, and often without realising it. I just don’t agree that it’s fair or reasonable to check on what someone is doing without cause.

That’s all.
